Girls, would this be considered rejection or just shyness?

I was walking along the beach and these two girls i walking in my direction so as we get close im like "hey hows it goin" they say "good" and smile at the same time but keep on walking....were they just shy or rejected me? Also I know I am a very good looking guy (did not mean to brag), so uglyness cant be an issue. Im also 16 and I think they are like 13 or 14---thats what they looked like up close lol.
